Maybe good for him. Got free food and lodging. Most important, i believe his stay there is better than his stay at his Woodlands/Serangoon dormitory.

将心比心 - judge others as you would like to be judged

would you prefer prison or Woodlands/Serangoon dormitory for weeks if put yourself in his shoes?

Six weeks is very, very lenient. If Sink aporeans maybe six months to max. of 12 months. Still not happy after 12 months ? Then maybe possible to charge you under "ISA". Which can be prolonged until GOV. thinks you are too old to threaten IS of Sink apore.
Personally i have knowledge of a lot of my Old kampong's ex-gangsters were detained under ISA. in the 50s, 60s 70s, when i were still just a little boy. Where are the kampongs now? No more but be careful, ISA is still around.
Ha! Ha! That's Sink apore.

Maybe some old Kampong's ex-gangsters are still alive today.
If so ask them what they are most afraid of. Ask them about ISA will you?
Don't believe? Then check the internet lol?

A) Buying a security is buying RISK not Return
B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

Should sentence length include public feeling ?

Prison term is really too much for just 2 days "Strike". Doesn't fit the crime.
I would think community service ... is a better way in a society with standard.

i think if Papys want to charge him for jeopardising the "IS" of Singapore under ISA is possible if suppose more & more FTs go on countrywide illegal strike due to him starting the 1st illegal strike. Just imagine Sink apore does not have strike for more than 20+ years. TongueBig Grin

If since i am not going to work for weeks and my family is not here, i prefer prison than the cramped dormitory described as not for human stay condition.

The crime is not 2 days of strike and causing disruptions on public transport, but is his action of jeopardizing the tripartite relationship in Singapore.

vincent is very good writer.

I too suspected the strike may have been a last resort, another questions to ask seeing how fast the whole episode was shoved thru the judicial process, arrest made, bail posted, wait for court schedule it usually takes a few months before there is any sentencing this was all wrapped up in under 2 weeks. Why?

Beware & Be careful! ISA is still around. Charge under "illegal strike" is nothing. Charge under ISA then you will know meaning of "No way to escape, no FREEDOM" TongueTongue

HONG KONG - Labour activists from the Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions are calling for the release of the former SMRT bus drivers detained for going on an illegal strike last week. They also called on the Singapore government to amend the law stipulating that workers providing essential services need to give an advance notice of 14 days before striking.
