I notice that you only have SG stocks in your portfolio. For a 500k portfolio (based on other members comments), I feel that it would benefit your portfolio greatly if you also looked elsewhere (eg HKSE) for more options. The recent HKSE correction in Q1 this year have provided a great window of opportunity for value hunters if you knew where to look.

My 2c.

i duno US and HK stock leh. u know any?

I am long Sinomedia long term. It is 20% of my total portfolio @ HKD$5.5 ish. Family owned company, market leader, driven by positive macroeconomic factors (long term growth trend in Chinese domestic tourism and media consumption), and outstanding management, price got driven down in Q1 due to credit crunch and Chinese Bank scares. I remember yield was 6+% (including special dividend) and pe was 6.5+.

Also long China banks (ICBC in particular), but not to the extend of Sinomedia.

Hosa International and Future Bright also look attractive, but I have no position in them yet. The reason being Future Bright is also in the tourism industry.

u know what? maybe it's better for you to stop what you are doing and think over your approach carefully...
You can only be LUCKY so far....
1) Try NOT to LOSE money!
2) Do NOT SELL in BEAR, BUY-BUY-BUY! invest in managements/companies that does the same!
3) CASH in hand is KING in BEAR!
4) In BULL, SELL-SELL-SELL!

If you truly want capital protection, maybe you should not be heavily vested in stocks.

5% yield with capital protection means your upside will be limited. You might want to review your portfolio and go for only blue chips stock with high yield. i.e telcos, Bearing in mind that your performance might lag behind that of an ETF, especially when the business cycle picks up. 5% of 500k means u have a passive income of 25k. U need to decide if this meets your fund strategy.

Exactly, the late Tan Chin Tuan attributed his success 70% due to luck.

Recent bull runs also boost the confidence/ego of many investors too.

Luckly that you realised it and the skies the limits!!!
