Malaysia Airlines hunt for missing plane

07:59 GMT - Another passport - Chinese state media is reporting that a Chinese person whose passport number is among those listed for passengers aboard the missing flight did not in fact board the plane.

According to the Xinhua news agency the person, a resident of Fujian province in eastern China, has no departure record and is still in Fujian.

Although the passport number is the same, the name listed by Malaysia Airlines for the passenger is, it says, adding the owner says he has never lost his passport.""

sometimes i wonder how safe/accurate is the security clearance by the airport

Security at the custom is very important as terrorist ma gain entry thru some disguise. The woodland has a lot to improvement to be made. I can't believe the mercedes car can just force it's way thru the custom. Like wise, how can two persons used others passport to get onboard?

ya a bit puzzled, for air travellers correct me if I am wrong, there are 2/3 points of control -
1) at time air tickets online booking time in advance, the traveller would have to have to key in his passport numbers with the airlines, the airline could with ample time, onsend such info to the airport for checking if airline has limitation or not in a position to check
2) airport clearance is the last point of control
3) another part is at the point of travel visa application

so in this case it seems that all 3 points of controls have failed

The public disclosure is so late and so poor. It speaks volumes of MAS' way of treating affected passenger closed ones.

Unless I have no choice, I wont ever fly MAS again.

ST: S'pore sends more planes, ships to help in search efforts

I recalled the same happened before for Freescale, when a SIA plane crashed upon takeoff in Taiwan...

[SAN FRANCISCO] Employees of Freescale Semiconductor who were on a Malaysia Airlines flight presumed to have crashed were doing sophisticated work at the US chipmaker, a company spokesman said on Sunday.

The 20 Freescale employees, among 239 people on flight MH370, were mostly engineers and other experts working to make the company's chip facilities in Tianjin, China, and Kuala Lumpur more efficient, said Mitch Haws, vice-president, global communications and investor relations. "These were people with a lot of experience and technical background and they were very important people," Mr Haws said."It's definitely a loss for the company."

None of Austin, Texas-based Freescale's most senior executives were on board the Boeing Co 777-200ER airliner that vanished from radar screens about an hour after it took off from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing on Saturday.

The employees who were on board, 12 from Malaysia and eight from China, came from a range of disciplines and they were part of a broad push by Chief Executive Officer Gregg Lowe to make Freescale more efficient and cost effective, Mr Haws said.

Top-quality engineers are hard to come by for chipmakers and other technology companies, and losing them can have a major impact on business, regardless of their seniority.

Our civil servants are at best ARM-CHAIR policeman. They don't go to the ground to find out.

Always need to wait for real incidents then test the systems and people readiness.

Fire fighting and reactive mindset seems to be pervasive throughout the whole civil service and statutory board.

Actually crashing on sea is worst than crashing on land. Crashing on sea means the plane will almost always breaks up and debris killing passengers. Crashing on land, body of plane may not necessary breaks up.

1. Weather and visibility is good. So bad weather is not the main cause

2. No mayday distress signal - that means event is so sudden the pilots do not even have time to react. Remember the pilots door is now fortified.

4. The unauthorised passports - telling me high chance of terrorists on board.

My guess is that the terrorists did such a good job holding the pilots hostages and triggering a mid-air explosion that is so devastating...

My brother told me the black box signal is on for 72 hours only...
