i think only this way is for real if the GOV of the day is SERIOUS about Singaporeans come first. So far (for me) it is in the name 101% MERITOCRACY that all common Singaporeans have to bear the burden. Definitely not the Singaporean Elite Class. They have been enjoying life man!
That's why one Old-Man called Singaporeans daft and not hungry enough. i think he is correct in a way. We are after all these years we still can't really have a voice in parliament.
IMHO.

Cannot la. No affirmative action. Then we will be moving towards the 'Bumiputera policy' like the one up north. You know how cock up that policy is. For bumi & non-bumi.

Anyway, PAP ticket is no longer secure ticket to Parliament. More will bail if the party STILL parachute people from Admin Services into MPs seats.

OKIE! So how to prevent FTS and their fellowmen to play punk with Singaporeans?

2) Rule # 2, refer to # 1.

B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

If the new policy can coerce 90% of companies to relook at their emploment policy so as not to be blackmarked by govt, it is considered successful.

There will always be 10% who wants to flout or go around the rules.

Fellow Singaporean must unite together and show the FT that we are no push over. We should not let them see us as a lot that makes a lot of noise but with little/no action. We can continue complaining but that is not leading us anywhere. In today's papers, it was reported that LHL mentioned many people in our region are hungry for our lunch, if we don't guard our lunch well, it could well be eaten by others. I had to agree with him.

Most likely, a few months after this is implemented, there'll be a couple of high profile cases where the offenders get charged and finally, penalised. After that, quiet for a while before another round... This is based on my observations of the past, be it Hiring of Illegal Workers, Renting rooms to Illegals (IIRC, even a pastor was found guilty), Underage Pros (2nd high profile case now ongoing), ...Tongue

So, after while, perhaps your 10% becomes a less significant figure...Tongue

This policy will induce some PRs to take up citizenships and become new citizens , but in term of fair employment, the end result can be LPPL.

On second thoughts, it is not really "Bumiputera Policy". It's for all Singaporeans of all races. Many Western Countries have "similar policy", i think. Except it's for the whites only of the countries.

Investment is multidisciplinary in nature. A discussion involves political content is unavoidable. But I urge buddies to tone it down, and focus more on economic merits. The focus of this forum is value investment after all.

Thanks, and enjoy the discussion. Big Grin

If i want to hire Indians from India. I will say in the job description: Need to travel to india on short notice and frequently even though there is no such requirement. How many Sporeans will want to apply?

If hire China chinese, just state: Minimum 5 year experience (but offer only 3.3k if a Sporean shows interest), how many Sporeans will take up this job?
