Ah... The Art and Science of Life.. You won't go hungry using either and some can be very good just depending on one part of their brain (left or right). How about a mixture? The Science from knowledge gained by reading, simulation, case studies... The Art? From experience...

Possible in investing? I think so, either that or I have been lucky so far.. hope I don't use up my 9-lives soon! Tongue

PS. No right or wrong way. The right way is the one that makes $$ for you

PS2. If you think it can't be done, then it definitely can't be done... by you. If you think it can be done...you have to work hard on it becoming true.. No short cuts for positive thinking, only possible for negative thinking ie. don't have to even try... Haha...

I agree with you KopiKat!

Whatever makes money for you is the right way Smile

P.S. I'm right-brained who likes to visualise scenarios in broad strokes (comes mighty handy in total supply chain thinking). That's why I always team up with a left-brained numbers whiz who is great with details.

Its pretty interesting for that book. However, it only gives u a fundamental of it. being sincere and giving quality work is always the most important thing for all business to work. my 2 cents worth

I read through RDPD briefly many years ago and overall impression was it felt like a generic feel good book with some melodrama that is not useful for making money.

Then later I have 1 close friend and 1 ex-colleague got suckered in by Kiyosaki, forking out $3,000+ for a get rich course and gala dinner conducted by him.

They came back foaming in the mouth on all the different ways on how to get rich - start business, MLM, speculate property, play stocks, online commerce etc. I knew right from the start they had no idea on even the basics of entrepruneurship or investing but were so pumped up by him they were willing to throw more good money after the bad.

Nothing good turned out for both of them and last I heard they were still slaving in the rat race. Rolleyes

The concept introduced by Robert Kiyosaki initially is pretty close to value investing i.e. focus on CF

After working with wrong partner on "develop and conduct the free seminar business with follow up fee-based courses", it becoming more like scams

I know the starting concept was supposed to be some cashflow quadrant which I found mildly interesting though not really worth the price of a paperback as similar concepts can be found in many better investment books.

Over the years I have heard of quite a few people commenting on Kiyosaki having read his books or attended his pricey courses, but not once have I gotten feedback on anything resembling to cashflow in the value investment sense.

I gather the books and courses have nothing to do with value investing and the actual presentation storyline seems to gyrate from end to end depending on what sort of audience he is trying to peddle his crap to.

i have read somewhere in the net he is now considered as a "FRAUD" in America.
WB:-

1) Rule # 1, do not lose money.
2) Rule # 2, refer to # 1.
3) Not until you can manage your emotions, you can manage your money.

Truism of Investments.
A) Buying a security is buying RISK not Return
B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

NB:-
My signature is meant for psychoing myself. No offence to anyone. i am trying not to lose money unnecessary anymore.

Robert Kiyosaki is giving out free eBook, Rich Dad Poor Dad for this week. Rich Dad Poor Dad is definitely a good book for beginners to read up on personal finance as well as investing.
