Believe it or not, this is the counter i value averaged down to $2.50 and yet my average price is $3.50/share. My value average down tactic for this counter must be very poor. But i am not complaining for the dividends i receive so far are quite good. Especially those at or near Christmas day. Must be more patience in my value average down tactic for the next round.TongueBig Grin

I am not much better than Temperament.

I average down to S$3, now with average cost of ~S$3.5/share, same as you

I only started to go in 2009. just few years of shareholding. I am happy with the dividend income i received. The return is good, although not as good as others i invested

So far i got CAGR of 9% for my SPH, including dividend

Yes! i have bought a few lots@$4.5+ much, much more earlier than 2009. i really know now i went in too aggressively in 2008 to 2009. Well, we all should have another chance to practise again our value-averaging for this counter. i believe every counter needs different tactic of value-averaging. It's because no counter behaves the same during a Bear's pawing. Some fall very fast. Some take their own "sweet time". IMHO.TongueBig Grin

Thanks for sharing, Temperament.

Let me share one recent experience i had with SPH.

When the share price is about S$4-4.5 around end 2010-early 2011, i had done a review on SPH myself, with conclusion that after sky-eleven project, the revenue will not sustain (a shortfall of ~100 mils in net profit after sky-eleven), and if market reflect that, the share price will go below S$4 or even much lower

If i believe in my own work with hesitation, i should sell above $4 since my average then is much lower, and buy back later when price had adjusted lower

Well now it will take quite some time for SPH net profit to reach ~500 mils again.

Ya lol, i did sell 1 or 2 lot@$4.6-$4.7 at that time or earlier (sorry i am too lazy to check to be exact even though i have record even up to 1987/8. Not necessary ma.) Once below $4.5 i keep the few lots (bad habit of Price Anchoring) and value-average down till $3.5/share. i have sold some @$3.89 this year. i may sell more if the Market allows or favours me. To tell the truth, i am actually preparing for the next cycle. But it looks like it is still too early. Nevertheless who can tell. Er...... actually i think am a BEAR/BULL trader not really a "value investors". You can call me a "ROJAK Investor". It doesn't matter to me as long as i can make some money.

Yes, as long as it create happiness for you, why care... uncle Temperament. I hope you would not mind that been called as uncle, isn't it?

If i am right, above $4.5 is around 2008, before financial crisis in 2009. I did not buy then, too expensive.. I go in during financial crisis time

But then who knows what is going to happen to the company next moment? Even if you guess the next cycle right.TongueBig Grin

The last time your price level was triggered was,

$3.50 : 20-Jul-09
$4.00 : 27-Apr-11

See Yahoo Finance Chart.

You may want to tighten your range to $3.6x (Buy) and $3.9x (Sell) if you wish to enjoy such thrills more often. Tongue
