Hi all,

I've been invited by a person called Guna who I assume is the Administrator of this forum to continue the legacy that was Wallstraits, and then Afralug. This forum is called Value Buddies and is quite a catchy name haha.

Sadly, when Afralug went down on August 1, 2010, many of the excellent threads also went down along with it; with almost no hope of recovering the valuable information and analysis which were contained in them. It is now our job, as forumers, to build up the same kind of community which Wallstraits (and Afralug) used to enjoy; with a myriad of views and intelligent, respectful exchanges.

There should be no personal attacks, flaming or spamming of any sort, and I am hoping the forum remains civil and polite and that all views will be accepted. Of course, all discussions will be of a value investing nature and pertain to Benjamin Graham's and Warren Buffett's precepts and teachings. This forum shall primarily be a platform where investors dig deep and analyze companies as good businesses to own; and not as mere inventory to be traded around to the highest bidder.

As of now, I am unsure how to contact the previous esteemed forumers dydx and d.o.g., who were among the best contributors of Wallstraits. If anyone has their contacts or email, please inform them of this new website cum forum, so that they may lend their valuable inputs as well.

As for the rest of the previous gang, please actively sign up with your (old) nicks and begin contributing!

Long live Value Investing! Big Grin

I'm so glad that there's an attempt to revive the former Afralug forum.
Let us all share more with each other and I'm sure the former forummers will get wind of this place.

Meanwhile, warm welcome to all new Value Investors and may you learn as much as I have from a place with what I believe is the best place to not just grow your money but to nourish your spirit as well.

Thanks to Guna and MW.

I like WS or afralug simply because there is so much less noise.

You are welcome, yeo san.

I just feel it's a pity if we have to lose a forum like wallstraits.com / afralug.com.

Hello all.

Hopefully, this forum is as enriching and engaging as afralug forum.
I have learnt quite a bit from afralug forum.
Just wondering, why did afralug go offline?

I have no answers as to why Afralug went offline. yeokiwi and I have been trying (in vain) to contact the Admin for Afralug, a person named Azlan.

It's regretful that all the old threads and valuable information from the old forum has probably been lost forever. The same thing also happened when Wallstraits migrated to Afralug (not to mention I lost all my PM too!).

So I am not sure if there is an archival function for this forum in order to backup the threads now and then in case there is another crash. I am not IT-Savvy so I'd appreciate if someone could advice on this.

Thanks! Big Grin
