Second LNG terminal planned to boost energy security - ST by Jonathan Kwok

PM Lee, speaking at the official opening of Singapore LNG Terminal, said the potential sites in Eastern Singapore are being studied for the second terminal.

"This will enhance our energy security because it will geographically diversify our LNG import infrastructure".

CIMB regional economist Somg Seng Wun said the second LNG terminal will help Singapore stay ahead of other countries in its bid to become a hub.

Having LNG terminal means that Singapore can take in imports from all over the world...
fr Equatorial Guinea in Africa and Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean.

We are strategically located to be a LNG exchange hub as there is a shortage of pipelines unlike US and Europe:

Kudos to the govt/ EDB for spotting this niche. Think it's a very good strategic fit.

Not likely at tekong.
Likely to Changi coastal road there. Near airport.
Max use coz oil and gas. Low building height.

Build in eastern side coz jurong island no space already.
Also want to compete against Petronas oil and gas hub at pengaran.

Besides need tekong space to build nuclear plant. Hahaha.
