According to CNA, about 1,840 workers still remain in the Singapore office after the retrenchment exercise.

The company posted 5 job openings for its Kaki Bukit office in mid Dec 2013 at www.hgstcareers.com

So factory space is still needed here.

The vacancies are mainly for sales or testing positions. This may mean HGST can consider renting less Floor area or use its kaki bukit rented unit to function as HQ for SEA. After all, industrial property rent PSF is cheaper than Office rent PSF.

I had two early encounters with Hitachi...

First was when I was with the three letter MNC.
Kakit Bukit plant was setup to manufacture HDD.
It's a joint venture of with Hitachi.
That's when I first heard about Hitachi.

Second story is more dramatic.
I was with the two letter MNC.
One day, I received a request from HQ.
We need to fly our best engineer to Amsterdam for one week training.
Don't ask any questions, just do it...
mmm... secret project..hur?

Our best engineer at that time that's available for the training is none other than Richard LSW.

++++++++++++++++++++
When Richard is back, I asked him what's the training about?
He says, very strange.
It's mainly a hardware installation training.
The funny things is in front of the big box, there is a word says
... HITACHI.

Ya, experienced twice. By right I shouldn't be laughing on this, but I have escaped from these worries forever, until perhaps next life Wink.
