I used to do the same when travel to Seoul before 3G is available. It is due to incompatibility of 2G system between Singapore and Korea then

It is quite convenience, pick up and drop off in airport. Cost wise, i can not recalled, about US$100 per week of stay IIRC.

It is a good business model IMO, especially for travelers and tourists.
